Data Releases
The data collected and the techniques used by USGS scientists should conform to or reference national and international standards and protocols if they exist and when they are relevant and appropriate. For datasets of a given type, and if national or international metadata standards exist, the data are indexed with metadata that facilitates access and integration.

Model application: modeling lake ice phenology in Minnesota, 1980-2018 Model application: modeling lake ice phenology in Minnesota, 1980-2018
Globally, lakes are losing ice cover, but our understanding of the rates and variability of change are biased towards few lakes with long-term records. Recent works have used remote sensing and predictive modeling to supplement the observational record, but these approaches produce large errors when estimating ice phenology for individual lakes. Our associated manuscript explores machine...
Data in support of estimation of magnitude and frequency of floods for rural, unregulated streams in and near Virginia and West Virginia Data in support of estimation of magnitude and frequency of floods for rural, unregulated streams in and near Virginia and West Virginia
This data release contains the supporting datasets, tables, and geospatial information generated and analyzed in the 2025 flood-frequency study for Virginia and West Virginia. In this study, the magnitude and frequency of annual peak streamflows were estimated using the Expected Moments Algorithm for 813 streamgages on rural, unregulated streams in and near Virginia and West Virginia...
Lidar point cloud, raster, and RTK GNSS survey data for pre- and post-restoration of Ackerson Meadows, Yosemite National Park, California, USA Lidar point cloud, raster, and RTK GNSS survey data for pre- and post-restoration of Ackerson Meadows, Yosemite National Park, California, USA
A collection of lidar point cloud, raster, and real-time kinematic global navigation satellite system (RTK GNSS) survey data of Central and South Ackerson Meadow to aid in monitoring wetland meadow restoration. Uncrewed aircraft system (UAS) lidar collections were flown in June 2023 (before restoration), November 2023, and November 2024 (after restoration), with one forthcoming...
Physical and Biological Monitoring Data Collected from Restored Wetland Units at Shiawassee National Wildlife Refuge, Saginaw, MI, USA (2022) Physical and Biological Monitoring Data Collected from Restored Wetland Units at Shiawassee National Wildlife Refuge, Saginaw, MI, USA (2022)
These data describe water chemistry and fish, macroinvertebrate and vegetation communities within recently restored, historically-restored, and unrestored wetland management units of the Shiawassee National Wildlife Refuge (SNWR; Michigan, USA). Data were collected in 2022 according to protocols and methods described in Curwin et al. 2023. These methods were developed through previous...

These data describe water chemistry and fish, macroinvertebrate and vegetation communities within recently restored, historically-restored, and unrestored wetland management units of the Shiawassee National Wildlife Refuge (SNWR; Michigan, USA). Data were collected in 2021 according to protocols and methods described in Conrad et al. 2022. These methods developed through previous years...
Airborne Magnetic and Radiometric Survey over parts of central and northern Florida and southeastern Georgia, 2023-2024 Airborne Magnetic and Radiometric Survey over parts of central and northern Florida and southeastern Georgia, 2023-2024
This data release provides digital flight-line and gridded data for a high-resolution airborne magnetic and radiometric survey over parts of central and northeastern Florida and southeastern Georgia. The survey was acquired as part of the USGS Earth Mapping Resource Initiative (Earth MRI) to improve our understanding of the fundamental geologic framework of the region with applications...
Airborne magnetic and radiometric survey over Puerto Rico and the Surrounding Islands and Shelf, 2023-2024 Airborne magnetic and radiometric survey over Puerto Rico and the Surrounding Islands and Shelf, 2023-2024
This data release provides digital flight-line and gridded data for a high-resolution airborne magnetic and radiometric survey over Puerto Rico, the islands of Vieques and Culebra, and the surrounding shelf. The survey was acquired through funding from the USGS Earth Mapping Resource Initiative (Earth MRI), the USGS Coastal and Marine Resources and Hazards Program, and the USGS...

This data release provides digital flight-line and gridded data for a high-resolution airborne magnetic and radiometric survey over parts of Maryland, Pennsylvania, and West Virginia. The survey was acquired as part of the USGS Earth Mapping Resource Initiative (Earth MRI) to improve our understanding of the fundamental geologic framework of the region with applications to evaluating...
Geochemical data for volcanic rocks of the northern Mojave Desert Geochemical data for volcanic rocks of the northern Mojave Desert
This release of geochemical data for the northern Mojave Desert is for 330 volcanic rocks sampled over 43 years, with an emphasis on basaltic rocks. It supports a field trip road log in the 2024 Geological Society of America Field Trip Guidebook for the Annual Meeting to be held in Anaheim, CA.
Templates for Releasing and Archiving Individual-based Genotype Data Templates for Releasing and Archiving Individual-based Genotype Data
This data release contains standardized templates for individual-based genotype data. We provide two template packages: one for Short Tandem Repeat or Microsatellite (STR) genotype datasets [str_release.zip] and another for Single Nucleotide Polymorphism (SNP)/variant call genotype datasets [snp_release.zip]. The templates were developed to comply with standards for scientific data...
Data used for the characterization of the hydrogeologic framework, groundwater-flow system, geochemistry, and aquifer hydraulic properties of the shallow groundwater system in the Wilcox and Lorraine process areas of the Wilcox Oil Company Superfund site Data used for the characterization of the hydrogeologic framework, groundwater-flow system, geochemistry, and aquifer hydraulic properties of the shallow groundwater system in the Wilcox and Lorraine process areas of the Wilcox Oil Company Superfund site
The Wilcox Oil Company Superfund site (hereinafter referred to as “the site”) was formerly an oil refinery in northeast of Bristow in Creek County, Oklahoma. Historical refinery operations contaminated the soil, surface water, streambed sediments, alluvium, and groundwater with refined and stored products at the site. The Wilcox and Lorraine process areas are where the highest...
Water level data from vertical French drains in South Miami Heights, Florida: August to October 2017 and February 2019 to February 2021 Water level data from vertical French drains in South Miami Heights, Florida: August to October 2017 and February 2019 to February 2021
In the South Miami Heights area of Miam-Dade County, vertical French drains (VFDs) are drainage structures that collect and promote infiltration of runoff from streets, sidewalks and saturated surfaces. The VFDs consist of a shallow rectangular cement inlet connected to an approximately 9-inch diameter and 7-feet-deep hole. The vertical holes are not filled, they are cut directly into...
