Data Releases
The data collected and the techniques used by USGS scientists should conform to or reference national and international standards and protocols if they exist and when they are relevant and appropriate. For datasets of a given type, and if national or international metadata standards exist, the data are indexed with metadata that facilitates access and integration.

Invasive carp mainstem habitat layers in the Lower Missouri, Middle Mississippi, Upper Mississippi, and Illinois rivers, compiled and modified by University of Missouri and U.S. Geological Survey, 2024 (ver. 2.0, June 2026) Invasive carp mainstem habitat layers in the Lower Missouri, Middle Mississippi, Upper Mississippi, and Illinois rivers, compiled and modified by University of Missouri and U.S. Geological Survey, 2024 (ver. 2.0, June 2026)
This dataset consists of categorical mainstem habitat layers from the Lower Missouri, Middle Mississippi, Upper Mississippi, and Illinois rivers compiled or developed from imagery and topo bathymetric data to quantify the mainstem riverine habitat available to bighead carp, black carp, grass carp, or silver carp. Layers consist of engineered control structures, categorical habitats at an...
Salt Tracer and Passive Seismic Horizontal to Vertical Spectral Ratio Data from Nanticoke Creek, Pennsylvania (2024-2025) Salt Tracer and Passive Seismic Horizontal to Vertical Spectral Ratio Data from Nanticoke Creek, Pennsylvania (2024-2025)
This data release contains near-surface geophysical and hydrological datasets collected along a historic coal-mining impacted reach of Nanticoke Creek near Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania, which is completely dry at its terminus during baseflow conditions. The release includes specific conductance data from a series of sodium chloride tracer slug injection experiments conducted on June 11...
Modeled subaerial shoreline area and potential dust emissions within Lake Mead and Lake Powell (ver. 2.0, July 2026) Modeled subaerial shoreline area and potential dust emissions within Lake Mead and Lake Powell (ver. 2.0, July 2026)
These data were compiled in support of the Post-2026 Operational Guidelines and Strategies for Lake Powell and Lake Mead (Post-2026) Environmental Impact Statement (EIS). These data were used to illustrate how six operational strategies (one baseline and 5 alternatives) could affect subaerial shoreline exposure and potential dust emissions at the Lake Powell and Lake Mead reservoirs. The...
Pesticide Exposure in Wet Meadows of Southeast Idaho, 2025 Pesticide Exposure in Wet Meadows of Southeast Idaho, 2025
Wet meadow habitats in southeast Idaho, which are important areas for wetland-dependent wildlife, are managed by four National Wildlife Refuges (NWR). Threats to this important, but regionally declining habitat include pesticide drift from adjacent and nearby lands. In this study, four NWRs, Camas, Minidoka, Bear Lake, and Grays Lake, are investigated for the presence of pesticides...
Model inputs and outputs associated with nitrogen mass balance and removal efficiency in small agricultural watersheds within the Chesapeake Bay watershed Model inputs and outputs associated with nitrogen mass balance and removal efficiency in small agricultural watersheds within the Chesapeake Bay watershed
This data release compiles the inputs and outputs for a nitrogen mass balance model for nine small agricultural watersheds within the Chesapeake Bay nontidal watershed. Data inputs include annual nonpoint source nitrogen input, plant uptake, and output, and total discharge from 1985-2020 for each of the agricultural watersheds. Data inputs also include median groundwater age used to...
Mauna Loa 2022 lava flow digital elevation models and thickness maps Mauna Loa 2022 lava flow digital elevation models and thickness maps
Mauna Loa volcano, Island of Hawaiʻi, erupted from November 27 to December 10, 2022, sending lava flows across the summit caldera (Mokuʻāweoweo) and into the upper Southwest Rift Zone, before focusing in the Northeast Rift Zone at fissure 3, sending a lava flow down the north flank that threatened a major highway. During the eruption, there was a need for updated terrain data to update...

Mauna Loa volcano, Island of Hawaiʻi, erupted from November 27 to December 10, 2022, sending lava flows across the summit caldera (Mokuʻāweoweo) and into the upper Southwest Rift Zone, before focusing in the Northeast Rift Zone at fissure 3, sending a lava flow down the north flank that threatened a major highway (Zoeller and others, 2024). During the eruption, U.S. Geological Survey...
Abundance and geochemistry of abyssal ferromanganese nodules and ferromanganese coated rocks from the Samoa Basin (2026-604-FA) Abundance and geochemistry of abyssal ferromanganese nodules and ferromanganese coated rocks from the Samoa Basin (2026-604-FA)
Ferromanganese nodules and other ferromanganese coated rocks were collected using a box core from the Samoa Basin, during 2026-604-FA. This data release includes location and depth information for each box core sample, the abundance of ferromanganese minerals in each box core sample, in units of kilograms per square meter of seafloor, and geochemical data for representative samples. The...
Data from In Situ and Laboratory Bioassays with Fatmucket for an Augmentation Effort in the Clinton River Watershed, near Detroit Michigan, from July to October 2023 Data from In Situ and Laboratory Bioassays with Fatmucket for an Augmentation Effort in the Clinton River Watershed, near Detroit Michigan, from July to October 2023
This data release contains biological information collected in the field during a 78-day in situ mussel exposure. We collected length and survival data from Fatmucket that were held in mussel silos from five potential mussel augmentation sites in the Clinton River watershed, near Detroit, Michigan. Additionally, this data release contains data from a 28-day laboratory sediment bioassay...
Pickle Pond pre-restoration orthomosaic and elevation products, Superior, Wisconsin, September 2020 Pickle Pond pre-restoration orthomosaic and elevation products, Superior, Wisconsin, September 2020
The orthoimagery, digital surface model and point cloud presented here document conditions at Pickle Pond in Superior, Wisconsin in August 2020, prior to planned ecological restoration. Aerial images were collected using a DJI Phantom with FC6310 sensor at a nominal elevation of approximately 70 meters above the surface of the lake water. Data were processed using structure-from-motion...
Brown treesnake 2009 supplemental feeding data and 2008-2012 capture mark recapture data from a closed population on Guam Brown treesnake 2009 supplemental feeding data and 2008-2012 capture mark recapture data from a closed population on Guam
The two datasets consist of capture-mark-recapture (cmr) data for brown treesnakes (Bioga irregularis), and a database containing information about supplemental food added to the population in 2009. The cmr data were collected in the closed population (CP) on Andersen Air Force Base in Guam. These data were used to assess how the population growth rate was affected by two perturbations...
Acoustic survey (detection/non-detection) and covariate data for Myotis lucifugus in interior Alaska, 2014-2017 Acoustic survey (detection/non-detection) and covariate data for Myotis lucifugus in interior Alaska, 2014-2017
