Kanakaleonui Bird Corridor Montane Plants 2016
Montane plant communities throughout the world have responded to changes in precipitation and temperature regimes by shifting both margins and core distributional ranges upward in elevation. Continued warmer, drier climate conditions have been documented and are predicted to increase in high-elevation areas in Hawaii, consistent with climate change effects reported in other environments throughout
Pufferfish mortality data
In 2010, a mass mortality of pufferfish in Hawaii was dominated by Arothron hispidus showing aberrant neurological behaviors. Using pathology, toxinology, and field surveys, we implicated a series of novel, polar, marine toxins as a likely cause of this mass mortality. Our findings are striking in that 1) a marine toxin was associated with a kill of a fish species that is, itself, toxic; 2) we

Community-level riparian plant traits, Colorado River, Grand Canyon, 2013-2015Data
These data were compiled based on field observations and available literature. Field observations of plant cover were made in September and October of 2013 and 2014, while trait measurements were made in September and October of 2014 and 2015. Field data was collected on sandbars along the Colorado River through Grand Canyon between river miles 0 and 226. Field measurements of specific leaf area,
Pelican Island and Pass La Mer to Chaland Pass restoration (BA-38): Chaland Island (2005, 2007) and Pelican Island (2011, 2013) habitat classifications
The Louisiana State Legislature created Coastal Wetlands Planning, Protection, and Restoration Act (CWPPRA) in order to conserve, restore, create and enhance Louisiana's coastal wetlands. The wetland restoration plans developed pursuant to these acts specifically require an evaluation of the effectiveness of each coastal wetlands restoration project in achieving long-term solutions to arresting co
Modeled 2030 land cover for the Northern Glaciated Plains ecoregion
Land use and land cover (LULC) change occurs at a local level within contiguous ownership and management units (parcels), yet LULC models primarily use pixel-based spatial frameworks. The few parcel-based models being used overwhelmingly focus on small geographic areas, limiting the ability to assess LULC change impacts at regional to national scales. We developed a modified version of the Foreca
USGS Spectral Library Version 7 Data
This data release provides the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) Spectral Library Version 7 and all related documents. The library contains spectra measured with laboratory, field, and airborne spectrometers. The instruments used cover wavelengths from the ultraviolet to the far infrared (0.2 to 200 microns). Laboratory samples of specific minerals, plants, chemical compounds, and man-made materials w

Public-Supply Water Use in Kansas, 2015
This U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) Data Release provides derivative statistics of water used by Kansas public-supply systems in 2015. Gallons per capita per day is calculated using self-reported information in the Part B: Monthly Water Use Summary and Part C: Population, Service Connections, and Water Rates sections of the Kansas Department of Agriculture, Division of Water Resources' (DWR) annual
County-level estimates of nitrogen and phosphorus from animal manure (2007 and 2012) and 30-meter-resolution grid of counties (2010) for the conterminous United States
There are two datasets in the compressed file along with individual metadata files which completely describe the datasets. The first data set consists of county estimates of nitrogen and phosphorus in kilograms from animal manure for the conterminous United States for 2007 and 2012. These data are available as both text files and spreadsheets. These estimates were based on county-level population
Differential Optical Absorption Spectroscopy data acquired at Sabancaya Volcano (Peru) on 21 May 2016
On 21 May 2016, two Differential Optical Absorption Spectroscopy (DOAS) instruments were used to measure the radiance of scattered solar radiation passing through the plume emitted from Sabancaya Volcano, Peru. Spectra were recorded in the ultraviolet (UV: 280 425 nm) and visible (Vis: 450 780 nm) wavelength ranges at 0.6 and 1.2 nm resolution, respectively. Two distinct experiments were perform
Stream Drift Sampling in Arizona, 2014Data
These data were compiled from field drift collections and from a meta-analysis of published drift literature. Field data were collected in 2014 from the Colorado River downstream of Glen Canyon Dam, Arizona, from the Salt River downstream of Stewart Mountain Dam, Arizona, and from Wet Beaver Creek near the Village of Oak Creek, Arizona. These data represent flow meter measurements taken at the mou
