Data Restoration at Gage Locations in Puerto Rico

Eighty updated stream gage discharge ratings from the hydraulic-model studies incorporating the extreme flood levels from Hurricane Maria are now in use by the PRASA, PREPA, PRDNER, PRPB, municipality emergency managers throughout the island, and USACE for flood warning and water distribution.

Long-term understanding of stream conditions, such as understanding peak streamflow frequency, that were significantly changed by the Hurricane Maria record flooding in Puerto Rico have been updated, which allows for better levee and bridge infrastructure planning to improve resiliency on the island. Supplemental funding provided the necessary water information to make the continued efforts of resiliency building, water supply, and flood mitigation a reality in Puerto Rico.
