Data Releases
The data collected and the techniques used by USGS scientists should conform to or reference national and international standards and protocols if they exist and when they are relevant and appropriate. For datasets of a given type, and if national or international metadata standards exist, the data are indexed with metadata that facilitates access and integration.

Airborne magnetic and radiometric survey, Hartville Uplift and Shirley Mountains regions, Wyoming, 2025 Airborne magnetic and radiometric survey, Hartville Uplift and Shirley Mountains regions, Wyoming, 2025
This data release provides digital flight line data for a high-resolution airborne magnetic and radiometric survey over the Hartville Uplift and Shirley Mountains regions of Wyoming. The survey is split into two blocks, one covering the Hartville Uplift region (Block A), and the other covering the Shirley Mountains region (Block B). The airborne survey was mainly funded by the State of...
Baseline Flow Resistance Parameters for Remote Sensing River Discharge (RSQ) from River Morphology Characteristics in the United States Baseline Flow Resistance Parameters for Remote Sensing River Discharge (RSQ) from River Morphology Characteristics in the United States
This dataset contains discharge measurements derived from acoustic Doppler current profiler (ADCP) observations collected at U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) stream gage locations that are observable by the Surface Water and Ocean Topography (SWOT) satellite. ADCP measurements were compiled for the period 2015 through December 1, 2025 and paired with reach-scale median SWOT-observed water...
Upper Feather River Watershed 30-meter Basin Characterization Model - Monthly Historical Climate and Hydrology Upper Feather River Watershed 30-meter Basin Characterization Model - Monthly Historical Climate and Hydrology
This data release includes the revised downscaled climate inputs and hydrologic outputs from the Basin Characterization Model (BCM) version 8 (v8), described in Flint and others (2021a), in a 30 by 30-meter spatial resolution at a monthly time step from water years 1896 to 2024 for the upper Feather River watershed. This data release includes five child items: 1. 30-year summaries, 2...
Improving tailwater ecosystem metabolism estimation—Metabolism and associated environmental data from a model comparison exercise for the Colorado River tailwater below Glen Canyon Dam—2008-2014 Improving tailwater ecosystem metabolism estimation—Metabolism and associated environmental data from a model comparison exercise for the Colorado River tailwater below Glen Canyon Dam—2008-2014
These data were compiled to model ecosystem metabolism in the Glen Canyon Dam tailwater (e.g., the Colorado River below Glen Canyon Dam). The primary objective of our study was to develop a new ecosystem metabolism model which we refer to as the variable flow two-station (VFTS) model. The VFTS modifies the classic two-station metabolism approach to account for unsteady flow, thus...
Dabbling Duckling Habitat Use and Movements Dabbling Duckling Habitat Use and Movements
We conducted a multi-year study (2016-2019) to identify elements of wetland habitat management that could potentially benefit breeding ducks. Specifically, we examined the influence of habitat variables in explaining habitat selection of managed wetlands near upland nesting sites by radio-tagged Mallard (Anas platyrhynchos) and Gadwall (Mareca strepera) ducklings in a brackish marsh...
Estimated Annual Recharge to the Edwards Aquifer in the San Antonio Area, by Stream Basin or Ungaged Area, 1934–2023 Estimated Annual Recharge to the Edwards Aquifer in the San Antonio Area, by Stream Basin or Ungaged Area, 1934–2023
The Edwards aquifer in south-central Texas is one of the most permeable and productive aquifers in the United States and is the major source of public water supply for Bexar, Comal, Hays, Medina, and Uvalde Counties. The Edwards aquifer also supplies large quantities of water for use in agriculture, business, and industry in the region. The major artesian springs of the Edwards aquifer...
Physical and hydraulic monitoring on the Yellowstone River fish bypass channel, Montana (ver. 2.0, April 2026) Physical and hydraulic monitoring on the Yellowstone River fish bypass channel, Montana (ver. 2.0, April 2026)
This data release was produced by the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) in cooperation with the Bureau of Reclamation (Reclamation) to present the results of monitoring efforts on the Yellowstone River fish bypass channel according to the specifications of the Lower Yellowstone Adaptive Management and Monitoring Plan. The fish bypass channel was constructed to provide upstream migrating fish...
Mechanisms of Devils Lake’s Responses to Recent Climatic Wetting: Insights from a Physically Based Hydrologic Model Mechanisms of Devils Lake’s Responses to Recent Climatic Wetting: Insights from a Physically Based Hydrologic Model
These data cover Devils Lake Basin of Northern Great Plains (NGP) region, North Dakota. We aimed to understand the mechanism of the Devils Lake responses and basin-wide hydrologic change under a wet-climatic regime using a process-based and cold region hydrologic model. The data include areal measurements (km2) of each of the Hydrological Response Units (HRUs) that were modeled.
Data for Analysis of Decadal Trends in the Quality of Groundwater Used for Public Drinking-Water Supply in California, 2004-2023, California GAMA Priority Basin Project Data for Analysis of Decadal Trends in the Quality of Groundwater Used for Public Drinking-Water Supply in California, 2004-2023, California GAMA Priority Basin Project
This data release documents datasets supporting analysis of decadal trends in the quality of groundwater resources used for public drinking-water supply across California. The analysis primarily utilizes samples collected by the U.S. Geological Survey's Groundwater Ambient Monitoring and Assessment Priority Basin Project (GAMA-PBP) during 2004-2023 as part of a cooperative research...
Regional invasive annual grass simulation models and invaded cover across the sagebrush biome (2022-2042) Regional invasive annual grass simulation models and invaded cover across the sagebrush biome (2022-2042)
This data release contains spatially explicit state-and-transition simulation model (STSM) packages, simulation results, and projected invaded cover layers of Invasive annual grasses (IAG). IAGs continue to spread within the sagebrush biome of the western United States, and managers need ways to scope IAG management strategy effectiveness for long-term strategic planning. We developed a...
Data from petrological and geochemical analyses of fast pyrolysis bio-oil distillation residues and naturally formed solid fossil fuels Data from petrological and geochemical analyses of fast pyrolysis bio-oil distillation residues and naturally formed solid fossil fuels
Distillation of fast pyrolysis bio-oils leaves solid residues analogous to those from distillation of fossil fuels or from natural subsurface petroleum formation (i.e., solid bitumen) or other natural carbon concentration processes (e.g., coal formation). Much like petroleum-based residues, bio-oil residues vary in terms of quality, yield, and versatility for downstream applications. For...
Density and magnetic susceptibility measurements on Archean and Proterozoic rocks, southern Medicine Bow Mountains, Wyoming, 2021-2024 Density and magnetic susceptibility measurements on Archean and Proterozoic rocks, southern Medicine Bow Mountains, Wyoming, 2021-2024
Rock physical property measurements were collected on outcrops to help understand the causative sources of gravity and magnetic survey anomalies in the southern Medicine Bow Mountains of Wyoming. A total of 539 magnetic susceptibility measurements and 318 density measurements have been conducted. The resulting data aid in interpretation of gravity and airborne magnetic data that are...
