The data collected and the techniques used by USGS scientists should conform to or reference national and international standards and protocols if they exist and when they are relevant and appropriate. For datasets of a given type, and if national or international metadata standards exist, the data are indexed with metadata that facilitates access and integration.

Seafloor Elevation Change From 2017 to 2019 at Looe Key, Florida Keys—Impacts from Hurricane Irma Seafloor Elevation Change From 2017 to 2019 at Looe Key, Florida Keys—Impacts from Hurricane Irma

The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) St. Petersburg Coastal and Marine Science Center conducted research to quantify bathymetric changes at Looe Key Reef, Florida (FL) within a 26.59 square kilometer-area over the reef proper, and surrounding areas. USGS staff used light detection and ranging (lidar) data acquired by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) in 2018 and...

National Landslide Damages and Losses National Landslide Damages and Losses

This National Landslide Damages and Losses (NLDL) database was developed by extracting relevant U.S. landslide loss and damage information from a variety of sources and compiling it within a consistent framework and database structure. Sources of information on economic losses, fatalities, and key event characteristics include, but are not limited to U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) Open...

Compilation of Images from Rivers Reaches across the United States (CIRRUS) Compilation of Images from Rivers Reaches across the United States (CIRRUS)

This data release provides a Compilation of Images from River Reaches across the United States (CIRRUS). These images were retrieved programmatically using the Google Maps Application Programming Interface (API). The data set consists of a total of 281,024 individual images from rivers throughout the contiguous U.S. and Alaska, with an emphasis on locations likely to have rapids. For the...

Atlantic and Gulf Coast Sandy Coastline Topo-Bathy Profile and Characteristic Database Atlantic and Gulf Coast Sandy Coastline Topo-Bathy Profile and Characteristic Database

Seamless topographic-bathymetric (topo-bathy) profiles and their derived morphologic characteristics were developed for sandy coastlines along the Atlantic and Gulf coasts of the United States. The topo-bathy profiles are published as a database in the Hierarchical Data Format version 5 (HDF5) which contain cross-shore distance coordinates, Universal Transverse Mercator (UTM) coordinate...

Argon data for samples from Sheep Creek and other mineral systems in central and western Montana, USA Argon data for samples from Sheep Creek and other mineral systems in central and western Montana, USA

This dataset includes 40Ar/39Ar data for 14 samples from the Sheep Creek carbonatite occurrence and other mineral systems in central and western Montana, USA. Samples were acquired from this area by Christopher Gammons and his students (Montana Technological University). Mineral separates of biotite and sericite from the samples were analyzed in the Denver Argon Geochronology Laboratory...

Data on Lepidium draba seed set and genetic diversity in northern Colorado Data on Lepidium draba seed set and genetic diversity in northern Colorado

Data were collected on the seed production and genetic diversity of Lepidium draba, an invasive plant. Site characteristics were also measured for 26 sites throughout northern Colorado. In addition, a pollen supplementation experiment was conducted at six of those sites, in which L. draba plants were pollinated with within-population pollen, among-population pollen, or were not...

Raster layers of optimal protection and restoration sites, ecological status, greater sage-grouse lek abundance, and connectivity to prioritize multi-species, sagebrush ecosystem management across Wyoming, USA Raster layers of optimal protection and restoration sites, ecological status, greater sage-grouse lek abundance, and connectivity to prioritize multi-species, sagebrush ecosystem management across Wyoming, USA

This data release includes a set of 25 rasters representing solutions (and associated input data) to two sagebrush conservation problems that identify optimal sites across the state of Wyoming for protection or restoration action (based on management-relevant inputs and constraints). The arid sagebrush-steppe ecosystems of western North America are undergoing substantial loss and...

This data release includes microfossil data, including flora and fauna lists, as well as microfossils zonation and numeric age range, for samples collected in and around the San Andreas Fault Zone in and near Pinnacles National Park between 2010-2012.

Ground Magnetic Observations of the Mammoth Magnetic Anomaly, Pinal County, Arizona, May 2025 Ground Magnetic Observations of the Mammoth Magnetic Anomaly, Pinal County, Arizona, May 2025

This data release provides ground magnetic data collected in May 2025 at the Mammoth Magnetic Anomaly (MMA) site in Pinal County, Arizona. These data were collected to validate and characterize a large aeromagnetic anomaly observed in an airborne survey of southeastern Arizona (Scheirer et al., 2025). The geophysical fieldwork was funded by the Earth Mapping Resources Initiative. Ground...

Argon Geochronology Data from Pleistocene Volcanic Deposits Along the Pit River, California Argon Geochronology Data from Pleistocene Volcanic Deposits Along the Pit River, California

Argon geochronology results date eruptions of mapped volcanic deposits north and south of the PIt River in the California Cascades. This data release includes both raw data and summary data. Summary data are the results USGS geochronologist(s) recommend be cited in geologic history publications.

Preliminary Geology of the North Meadow Creek Area, Tobacco Root Mountains, Southwest Montana: Measurements along the North Meadow Creek Fault Preliminary Geology of the North Meadow Creek Area, Tobacco Root Mountains, Southwest Montana: Measurements along the North Meadow Creek Fault

A previously unmapped fault forms a low scarp on a terrace along North Meadow Creek, a drainage on the east flank of the Tobacco Root Mountains, in SW Montana. The fault extends ~7.5 km between points where it disappears beneath alluvium of Madison Valley, on the SE, and glacial moraines on the NW. It appears on neither the Geologic Map of Montana nor the Quaternary Fault and Fold...
