Data Releases
The data collected and the techniques used by USGS scientists should conform to or reference national and international standards and protocols if they exist and when they are relevant and appropriate. For datasets of a given type, and if national or international metadata standards exist, the data are indexed with metadata that facilitates access and integration.

Basin-fill thickness of the Arroyos and Northeast Air Force Research Laboratory areas, Edwards Air Force Base, California Basin-fill thickness of the Arroyos and Northeast Air Force Research Laboratory areas, Edwards Air Force Base, California
This data release contains a gridded shapefile of basin-fill thickness constructed from geologic maps, gravity-derived depth to bedrock, and a digital elevation model. The data were generated by the U.S. Geological Survey under cooperative agreement with the U.S. Air Force Civil Engineer Center to characterize the hydrogeology of the Arroyos and Northeast Air Force Research Laboratory...
Data Examining the Effects of Disturbance Type and Timing, Winter Snow Manipulations, and Plant Functional Traits on Plant Communities Within Restored Temperate Grasslands in Wisconsin from 2017–2023 Data Examining the Effects of Disturbance Type and Timing, Winter Snow Manipulations, and Plant Functional Traits on Plant Communities Within Restored Temperate Grasslands in Wisconsin from 2017–2023
This dataset includes data from a study examining the effects of managed disturbance regimes, winter snow depth manipulations, and plant functional traits on plant communities within restored temperates over a seven-year period. The “Treatments.csv” file details the experimental design, which involved eight blocks, each containing four plots. Each plot was subjected to one of four...
Aerial imagery from the SEABirD (Safe, Efficient, Aerial Bird Detection) Platform collected over the Atlantic Ocean Aerial imagery from the SEABirD (Safe, Efficient, Aerial Bird Detection) Platform collected over the Atlantic Ocean
The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS) collected aerial imagery over the Atlantic Ocean using the Safe, Efficient, Aerial Bird Detection (SEABirD) platform. These images are taken over the Atlantic Ocean using a seven-camera array optimized for high resolution imagery. Published imagery are 3-band (RGB) 8-bit JPG files and are not georeferenced or orthorectified. Each image contains...
Results from experiments to measure the effect of nutrients on phytoplankton growth and potential toxin production in Kabetogama Lake (Minnesota, USA) during September 2021 and 2022 Results from experiments to measure the effect of nutrients on phytoplankton growth and potential toxin production in Kabetogama Lake (Minnesota, USA) during September 2021 and 2022
We performed short-term lab bioassays with nutrient enrichment on field-collected, naturally occurring phytoplankton communities. Naturally-occurring phytoplankton communities were collected from Kabetogama Lake (Minnesota, USA), which is a large lake located within Voyageurs National Park. Two experiments were performed in 2021 and two in 2022. Phytoplankton were raised in the lab under
Semi-continuous pressure and water quality sensor data from 5 locations in Lower Pool 13 of the Upper Mississippi River from May - September 2024 Semi-continuous pressure and water quality sensor data from 5 locations in Lower Pool 13 of the Upper Mississippi River from May - September 2024
The U.S. Geological Survey Upper Midwest Environmental Sciences Center collected semi-continuous data from water quality and pressure sensors at four shallow locations in the impounded portion of Pool 13 of the Upper Mississippi River and one location upstream near Savanna, IL between late May and early September 2024. This dataset includes high-frequency conductivity, salinity, total...
Temporal environmental DNA data collected from waters in Florida, Idaho, Montana and Wisconsin in 2022 Temporal environmental DNA data collected from waters in Florida, Idaho, Montana and Wisconsin in 2022
This dataset contains quantitative results of environmental DNA water samples from a diverse set of aquatic habitats, including small creeks in Idaho and Montana, a large river in Wisconsin, and an experimental pond in Florida. The frequency of daily sampling was randomly assigned, without duplication, each week to one of four levels: one survey event per day, two survey events per day...
Sample details and compositional data collected during the 2024 Southwest Rift Zone and middle East Rift Zone eruptions of Kīlauea, Island of Hawaiʻi Sample details and compositional data collected during the 2024 Southwest Rift Zone and middle East Rift Zone eruptions of Kīlauea, Island of Hawaiʻi
Samples for the 2024 Kīlauea eruptions in the Southwest Rift Zone and middle East Rift Zone were collected by the U.S. Geological Survey’s Hawaiian Volcano Observatory (HVO) field teams from within publicly closed areas of Hawai‘i Volcanoes National Park in cooperation with the National Park Service. This data release presents sample metadata, whole rock ED-XRF, whole rock WD-XRF, whole...
Geospatial data representing wells open to, and 2018 potentiometric-surface contours of, the confined aquifers of the New Jersey Coastal Plain Geospatial data representing wells open to, and 2018 potentiometric-surface contours of, the confined aquifers of the New Jersey Coastal Plain
This dataset contains the well-location information and water-level measurements for 930 wells from 10 confined aquifers of the New Jersey Coastal Plain. Well-location and water-level data is publicly available from the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) Water Data for the Nation database (USGS, 2025). Water-level measurements from 3 wells in Pennsylvania and reported water-level measurements...
Fish fin and muscle stable isotope data for four species of the Red River in Oklahoma and Texas, 2023 Fish fin and muscle stable isotope data for four species of the Red River in Oklahoma and Texas, 2023
Fish fin and muscle tissue natural abundance stable isotope data for four prairie fishes native to the upper Red River basin of Texas and Oklahoma, USA, including plains minnow (Hybognathus placitus), prairie chub (Macrhybopsis australis), Red River shiner (Notropis bairdi), and Red River pupfish (Cyprinodon rubrofluviatilis). Fish fin and muscle tissue were analyzed for 13C and 15N...
Digital elevation model of the lava dome in the crater of Mount St. Helens, October 23, 1980 Digital elevation model of the lava dome in the crater of Mount St. Helens, October 23, 1980
The catastrophic, explosive eruption of Mount St. Helens, Washington, on May 18, 1980, is the most well-known eruption of the volcano. Less well known is that the May 18 eruption marked the beginning of a period of eruptive activity that lasted through 1986. Beginning in October 1980, a series of 17 dome-building episodes added millions of cubic meters of lava to the crater floor. Most...
