Data Releases
The data collected and the techniques used by USGS scientists should conform to or reference national and international standards and protocols if they exist and when they are relevant and appropriate. For datasets of a given type, and if national or international metadata standards exist, the data are indexed with metadata that facilitates access and integration.

Geospatial characterization of New Hampshire salt marshes Geospatial characterization of New Hampshire salt marshes
This data release contains coastal wetland synthesis products for the New Hampshire salt marshes. Metrics for resiliency, including the unvegetated to vegetated ratio (UVVR), marsh elevation, tidal range, and lifespan are calculated for smaller units delineated from a digital elevation model, providing the spatial variability of physical factors that influence wetland health. The U.S...
Ground-based magnetic survey in the southwest corner of Yakima Training Center, Washington, 2025 Ground-based magnetic survey in the southwest corner of Yakima Training Center, Washington, 2025
A ground-based magnetic survey was conducted in the southwest corner of Yakima Training Center, Washington, in 2025. Magnetic surveys are passive, non-contact, surface geophysical methods that measure the total ambient magnetic field. The magnetic survey utilized a Geometrics G-864 cesium magnetometer. Survey lines were carried out to better understand the subsurface along a prominent...
Geochemical and mineralogical data for the USGS Gulf Coast 2 (GC-2) drill core for samples from the Woodbine Group to lower part of the Eagle Ford Group Geochemical and mineralogical data for the USGS Gulf Coast 2 (GC-2) drill core for samples from the Woodbine Group to lower part of the Eagle Ford Group
Geochemical data reported here were collected on samples from the USGS Gulf Coast 2 (GC-2) core that was drilled near Dallas, TX, representing a proximal location of the Eagle Ford Group. These data were collected to better characterize the properties and variability within the Eagle Ford Group, an important and prolific petroleum source rock unit. This data accompanies a manuscript that...
Geochemical data for sedimentary rocks and bentonites from the U.S. Cretaceous Western Interior Seaway Geochemical data for sedimentary rocks and bentonites from the U.S. Cretaceous Western Interior Seaway
Geochemical data were generated and compiled for sedimentary rocks and bentonites deposited in the Cretaceous Western Interior Seaway from 15 drill cores and 1 outcrop spanning present-day Texas to Alaska. These data were collected to better understand Cretaceous source rocks and petroleum systems of the United States. These data accompany a manuscript that will be submitted to a journal...
Genome comparisons between native and non-native Phragmites australis Genome comparisons between native and non-native Phragmites australis
This dataset describes independent chromosome-scale genome assemblies forinvasive P. australis ssp. australis and co-occurring native ssp. americanus. Comparative genomic and transcriptomic analyses were used to identify lineage-specific innovations associated with invasive success. Beyond Phragmites, comparative analyses across multiple grass genomes, including eight invasive species...
Digital Elevation Model and Derivative Datasets to Support the Integration of Stormwater Drainage into the StreamStats Application for the Neponset River Watershed, Massachusetts (ver. 2.0, September 2026) Digital Elevation Model and Derivative Datasets to Support the Integration of Stormwater Drainage into the StreamStats Application for the Neponset River Watershed, Massachusetts (ver. 2.0, September 2026)
This data release contains the 1-meter resolution digital elevation model (DEM; DEM.tif) and two other derivative rasters that support the U.S. Geological Survey StreamStats application’s ability to produce on-the-fly watershed delineations (https://www.usgs.gov/streamstats). The flow direction raster (fdr.tif) indicates the directionality of flow as it exits each raster cell. If a cell...
Braiding Index Measurements, Río Coca, Ecuador, 2012–2023 Braiding Index Measurements, Río Coca, Ecuador, 2012–2023
On February 2, 2020, the Río Coca in Ecuador undermined a basaltic-andesitic lava dam that formed the 144-meter-high San Rafael waterfall. Following the failure of the lava dam, the sudden loss of grade control prompted rapid knickpoint retreat and regressive erosion into poorly consolidated sediment, which initially migrated tens of meters upstream per day. On February 25, 2021, the...
Habitat Preferences of Slimy Sculpin and Rainbow Trout in Grout Brook, New York, 2016 Habitat Preferences of Slimy Sculpin and Rainbow Trout in Grout Brook, New York, 2016
In association with a project to estimate stream habitat use by two fish species; habitat parameters where slimy sculpin and rainbow trout were captured were recorded. Habitat use was observed using a backpack electrofisher in order to determine where fish were residing. Total stream habitat was calculated using equally spaced transects with observational recording of stream water depth...
Database of Active Faults Near Icy Bay, Alaska Database of Active Faults Near Icy Bay, Alaska
This dataset provides a detailed (1:100,000) digital map of fault and fold traces near Icy Bay, Alaska, USA based on features identified in the study of McCall et al. (2026), Haeussler et al. (2024), and Gulick et al. (2013). The fault traces in this dataset either revise the location and accuracy of known active faults or folds in the DGGS Quaternary Fault and Fold database (Koehler...
USGS National and Global Oil and Gas Assessment Project—Berkine, Illizi, and Hamra Basins Tight-Gas Resources: Assessment Unit Boundaries, Assessment Input Data, and Fact Sheet Data Tables USGS National and Global Oil and Gas Assessment Project—Berkine, Illizi, and Hamra Basins Tight-Gas Resources: Assessment Unit Boundaries, Assessment Input Data, and Fact Sheet Data Tables
This data release contains the boundaries of assessment units, assessment input data, and resulting fact sheet data tables for the assessment of undiscovered tight-gas resources in the Berkine, Illizi, and Hamra Basins of northern Africa. The assessment unit is the fundamental unit used in the National and Global Oil and Gas Assessment (NAGA) Project for the assessment of undiscovered...
