Data Releases
The data collected and the techniques used by USGS scientists should conform to or reference national and international standards and protocols if they exist and when they are relevant and appropriate. For datasets of a given type, and if national or international metadata standards exist, the data are indexed with metadata that facilitates access and integration.

Data Release of Geochemical, Geochronologic, and Isotopic Data for Proterozoic rocks from the Mountain Pass REE deposit and its host rocks, Arizona, California, and Nevada Data Release of Geochemical, Geochronologic, and Isotopic Data for Proterozoic rocks from the Mountain Pass REE deposit and its host rocks, Arizona, California, and Nevada
This U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) data release includes whole-rock major, trace, and rare earth element geochemical data, whole-rock and mineral Nd-Pb-Sr isotopic data collected by thermal ionization mass spectrometry (TIMS), and uranium-lead isotopic data collected by Sensitive High Resolution Ion Microprobe-Reverse Geometry (SHRIMP-RG) methods that characterize the Mountain Pass Rare...
Database for the bedrock geologic map of the Woodstock quadrangle, Grafton County, New Hampshire Database for the bedrock geologic map of the Woodstock quadrangle, Grafton County, New Hampshire
The bedrock geologic map database of the Woodstock quadrangle consists of highly deformed metasedimentary rocks of the Central Maine trough, including the Silurian Rangeley and Perry Mountain Formations and the Devonian Littleton Formation. The central, northern, and eastern parts of the quadrangle are underlain by the oldest rocks in the area, the Rangeley Formation. In the southwest...
Geodatabase for the geologic map of the Buckner 7.5-minute quadrangle, Louisa County, Virginia Geodatabase for the geologic map of the Buckner 7.5-minute quadrangle, Louisa County, Virginia
The database for the Buckner 7.5-minute quadrangle straddles three terrane boundaries in the Piedmont Physiographic Province in central Virginia: the Chopawamsic terrane, the Elk Hill Complex, and the Goochland terrane. In much of the map area, the Elk Hill Complex separates the Chopawamsic and Goochland terranes. Rocks of the Chopawamsic terrane include Ordovician metavolcanic and...
World minerals outlook to 2029—Cobalt, gallium, helium, lithium, magnesium, palladium, platinum, and titanium data World minerals outlook to 2029—Cobalt, gallium, helium, lithium, magnesium, palladium, platinum, and titanium data
Given the rapid expansion in the demand for mineral commodities that underpin worldwide economic growth and technological advancement, information regarding expected country-level mine production and production capacity is becoming increasingly important. In particular, production capacity can limit future supply, depending on how rapidly that capacity is able to expand. This World...
High-resolution active-source seismic data acquired near strong-motion recording stations (NSMP 1849 and NSMP 1870) at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center, Menlo Park, San Mateo County, California High-resolution active-source seismic data acquired near strong-motion recording stations (NSMP 1849 and NSMP 1870) at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center, Menlo Park, San Mateo County, California
On August 24, 2021, the U.S. Geological Survey conducted a high-resolution seismic survey between two strong-motion recording stations located at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center (VAMC) in the City of Menlo Park, San Mateo County, California. The stations are National Strong Motion Project Station (NSMP) 1849 in VAMC building 332 and NSMP Station 1870 in VAMC building 334. The primary...
Model Predictions, Observations, and Annotation Data for Deep Learning Models Developed to Estimate Relative Flow at 11 Massachusetts Streamflow Sites, 2017-2024 Model Predictions, Observations, and Annotation Data for Deep Learning Models Developed to Estimate Relative Flow at 11 Massachusetts Streamflow Sites, 2017-2024
This dataset consists of tabular data of observed streamflow, URL links to timelapse images, and deep learning model predictions for 11 sites in western Massachusetts. The dataset also includes a record of annotation data used to train the deep learning models. This data release is supporting information for an associated journal article describing the data collection, development of the...
Radar-determined locations of flying animals over the Gulf of America, 2023 and 2024 Radar-determined locations of flying animals over the Gulf of America, 2023 and 2024
A modified marine radar was deployed on the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration research vessel, Gordon Gunter, during the fall of 2023 and 2024 as it transected the Gulf of America conducting benthic surveys. The radar collected data on avifauna (and flying animals generally) within a couple kilometers of the vessel during a portion of the fall migration. Data collected can...
Milwaukee River environmental DNA data for bigheaded carp and four other species from 2021 and 2022 Milwaukee River environmental DNA data for bigheaded carp and four other species from 2021 and 2022
An eDNA-based sampling approach used by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service for bigheaded carp Hypophthalmichthys spp. in the upper Mississippi River and Great Lakes Basins that collects hundreds of water samples per event. The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service detected a single positive sample for bighead carp _H. nobilis_ during the spring 2021 sampling event in the Kinnickinnic River...
Oblique Aerial Photographs from October 13 and 17, 2024, of Landslides and Flooding Caused by Hurricane Helene (ver 1.1, March 2025) Oblique Aerial Photographs from October 13 and 17, 2024, of Landslides and Flooding Caused by Hurricane Helene (ver 1.1, March 2025)
This data release consists of geotagged oblique aerial photographs taken by U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) scientists to support landslide situational awareness following Hurricane Helene under mission assignment from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). The data release is accompanied by a photo viewer map where select photos can be viewed interactively. The photographs were...
Data to Support the Evaluation of Alternative Coatings for USGS Water-Quality Samplers Data to Support the Evaluation of Alternative Coatings for USGS Water-Quality Samplers
A series of blank samples were analyzed as part of a study to evaluate alternative coatings for USGS water-quality samplers. The open-file report to be published in association with this data is titled "Evaluation of Alternative Coatings for U.S. Geological Survey Water-Quality Samplers" (Thornton, 2025) and includes further details of the study. The five coating options evaluated were...
Nitrogen, phosphorus, and suspended-sediment loads and trends measured at the Chesapeake Bay Nontidal Network stations: Water years 1985-2023 Nitrogen, phosphorus, and suspended-sediment loads and trends measured at the Chesapeake Bay Nontidal Network stations: Water years 1985-2023
Nitrogen, phosphorus, and suspended-sediment loads, and changes in loads, in rivers across the Chesapeake Bay watershed were calculated using monitoring data from the Chesapeake Bay Nontidal Network (NTN) stations for the period 1985 through 2023. Nutrient and suspended-sediment loads and changes in loads were determined by applying a weighted regression approach called WRTDS (Weighted...
