Data Releases
The data collected and the techniques used by USGS scientists should conform to or reference national and international standards and protocols if they exist and when they are relevant and appropriate. For datasets of a given type, and if national or international metadata standards exist, the data are indexed with metadata that facilitates access and integration.

Field-Based Raw Meteorological Station Data for the Los Planes basin in Baja California Sur, Mexico from July 2023 through March 2026 Field-Based Raw Meteorological Station Data for the Los Planes basin in Baja California Sur, Mexico from July 2023 through March 2026
Ground-based field monitoring meteorological stations are used to collect real-time weather and environmental data. Data parameters range from weather variables (i.e., precipitation, wind speed and direction, air temperature, relative humidity, dew point), to environmental variables (i.e., solar radiation, air density, soil conductivity), to station status data (i.e., battery voltage...
Groundwater recharge estimates for the United States part of the Salish Sea Basin, northwestern Washington Groundwater recharge estimates for the United States part of the Salish Sea Basin, northwestern Washington
This data release documents estimates of groundwater recharge for the U.S. portion of the Salish Sea Basin in northwestern Washington. A U.S. Geological Survey Soil-Water-Balance (SWB) model (Westenbroek and others,2018) was developed for Hydrologic Unit Code 17110 to simulate the spatial distribution of net infiltration below the root zone on a daily time step from January 1, 1980...
Development of Western United States pluvioregions for post-wildfire assessments Development of Western United States pluvioregions for post-wildfire assessments
The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) National Water Quality Program, through the Prototyping Modeling and Assessment of Post-wildfire Water Availability project, aims to enhance the ability to assess and predict the impacts of wildfires on water supplies. Precipitation is a key driver of flooding, debris flows, and water quality responses following wildfire. The intensity, duration, and...
Hakalau Forest National Wildlife Refuge Testing Plant Diversity and Density for Restoration from 2021-2024 Hakalau Forest National Wildlife Refuge Testing Plant Diversity and Density for Restoration from 2021-2024
This data release consists of data and metadata for a forest restoration experiment investigating experimental outplanting diversity and density in previously grazed pastureland. Five replicate sites, consisting of 11 - 6x6m plots (10 experimental treatments + 1 control), were set up for this experiment. Treatments consisted of two planting densities (double and single) as well as...
Meteorological data from Cape Cod National Seashore, Massachusetts Meteorological data from Cape Cod National Seashore, Massachusetts
Meteorological data were collected at Marconi and Head of the Meadow Beaches on Cape Cod National Seashore, MA as part of a multi-year monitoring study of nearshore sand transport and white shark behavior. The overarching goal of the study is to characterize beach and nearshore morphology, assess temporal variability, and measure wave runup to calibrate USGS total water level forecasts...
Organic petrology data supporting a study examining petroleum source rock properties of the Icebox Formation Organic petrology data supporting a study examining petroleum source rock properties of the Icebox Formation
The Ordovician Icebox Formation of the Winnipeg Group has been interpreted as a petroleum source rock within the Williston Basin for over 50 years. Despite limited hydrocarbon production from Winnipeg Group reservoirs and being deeply buried (located below most of the current hydrocarbon producing reservoirs), the petroleum industry continues to periodically drill wells through the...
Conodont and petrographic information to support 1:24,000-scale geologic mapping of the Cambrian and Ordovician rocks of the southern Lake Champlain valley Conodont and petrographic information to support 1:24,000-scale geologic mapping of the Cambrian and Ordovician rocks of the southern Lake Champlain valley
Conodonts were collected in the southern Lake Champlain valley to aid in identifying lithostratigraphic units, determining biostratigraphic zonations, and correlating to other regions. The conodonts were identified by experts in Cambrian and Ordovician micropaleontology. Microslides/thin sections were made of different lithostraphigraphic units of the southern Lake Champlain valley to...
Uncrewed Aerial System Digital Surface Model and Multispectral Footprints for the Rio De Las Vacas, New Mexico, USA, Summer 2025 Uncrewed Aerial System Digital Surface Model and Multispectral Footprints for the Rio De Las Vacas, New Mexico, USA, Summer 2025
In this study we are deploying several sensor arrays within a small stream channel, the Rio De Las Vacas, in the Jemez mountains of Northern New Mexico in coordination with a local partner, who are implementing several low-tech process based restorative practices including Beaver Dam Analogs (BDAs). This cooperation has allowed us to build a hydrological picture before and after the...
Lake Sturgeon Sampled for Bioindicator Project, 2012-2013 Lake Sturgeon Sampled for Bioindicator Project, 2012-2013
Fish are often used as bioindicators to test the state of their environment qualitatively or quantitatively. This data set contains details of lake sturgeon (captured in the Genesee and Oswegatchie Rivers for Bioindicator Project GL-00E00825-0, 2012-2013). This study focused on non-lethal comparison of chemicals in age matched release juvenile lake sturgeon in an Area of Concern...
Post-stocking survivorship and diet of Age-1 Cisco (Coregonus artedi) in Lake Erie, May 2025 Post-stocking survivorship and diet of Age-1 Cisco (Coregonus artedi) in Lake Erie, May 2025
Lake Erie historically supported a large population of Cisco (Coregonus artedi) which provided an important fisheries resource. The Cisco population declined precipitously in the 1920s and by the 1960s the species was considered extirpated from the lake. In May of 2025, the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation experimentally released age-1 Cisco into Lake Erie to...
Potomac River Pilot Topobathymetric Digital Elevation Model, 1979 to 2025 Potomac River Pilot Topobathymetric Digital Elevation Model, 1979 to 2025
The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) 3D Elevation Program (3DEP) has developed an integrated 1-meter topobathymetric digital elevation model (TBDEM) for the Potomac River extending from tidal Washington, D.C. to upstream of Hancock, Maryland. This is the third 3DEP pilot inland TBDEM, developed to produce a 3-dimensional surface elevation model that integrates topographic bare-earth...
Data in support of flow frequency report--Magnitude and Frequency of Peak and Low Flows in the Elkhorn River Basin, Nebraska, 1881-2022 Data in support of flow frequency report--Magnitude and Frequency of Peak and Low Flows in the Elkhorn River Basin, Nebraska, 1881-2022
The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS), in cooperation with the Nebraska Department of Transportation, initiated a flow-frequency study for the Elkhorn River basin in Nebraska for flow data for water years 1881-2022. Estimates of the magnitudes of peak flow were determined using the USGS PeakFQ flood-frequency program, version 7.5.1 at the 50, 20, 10, 4, 2, 1, 0.5, and 0.2 percent chance...
