Catalog of Geospatial Datasets for the USGS Water Quality Program, Proxies Project Catalog of Geospatial Datasets for the USGS Water Quality Program, Proxies Project

The Proxies Project is a series of studies to improve our understanding of water contaminants and water quality hazards. These studies develop models and technical approaches for estimating concentrations and assessing risk associated with: - harmful algal blooms (HABs) - per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) -12 elements of concern (EoC) The Proxies Project is a series of studies to impro

Colorado Legacy Mine Lands Watershed Delineation and Scoring tool (WaDeS) Colorado Legacy Mine Lands Watershed Delineation and Scoring tool (WaDeS)

This web application, a summarized compilation of central Colorado water chemistry datasets from USGS and EPA, identifies legacy mine sites within the headwaters of central Colorado that could be good candidates for future remediation work based on stream metal concentrations, the number and complexity of mine features, and the potential for high natural background metal concentrations.

Columbia River Gorge Landslides Columbia River Gorge Landslides

Extreme rainfall during two atmospheric river events in January 2021 and January 2022 triggered a series of debris flows in the Columbia River Gorge, Oregon. The flows had significant impacts, including multiple highway closures and one fatality. This story map highlights rainfall data and observations of debris flow deposits by the Oregon Department of Geology and Mineral Industries (DOGAMI).

Concentration data for 12 elements of concern in surface water of three hydrologic basins (Delaware River, Illinois River and Upper Colorado River) – A data visualization tool Concentration data for 12 elements of concern in surface water of three hydrologic basins (Delaware River, Illinois River and Upper Colorado River) – A data visualization tool

This data visualization and exploration tool was designed as part of the USGS WMA Proxies Project. It provides surface water concentration data associated with 12 elements of concern (Al, As, Cd, Cr, Cu, Fe, Hg, Mn, Pb, Se, U, Zn) in a geospatial framework spanning three hydrologic basins (Delaware River, Illinois River, and the Upper Colorado River).

Conservation Planning Tool for the Bi-State Distinct Population Segment of Greater Sage-grouse 1.0.0 Conservation Planning Tool for the Bi-State Distinct Population Segment of Greater Sage-grouse 1.0.0

A decision support tool for conifer treatment to restore greater sage-grouse ( Centrocercus urophasianus) habitat within the Bi-State, California and Nevada, area. This tool provides a science-based approach for prioritizing pinyon and juniper removal to improve habitat for greater sage-grouse in the Bi-State Distinct Population Segment.
